Blob
tracking.

A visual study where colour, motion, and connected regions turn a moving image into a living field of points and trails.

Blob tracking · visual export

The idea

I wanted to treat a moving image as a set of living shapes. Colour regions become blobs, and their movement gives the frame a new kind of drawing.

How it works

The image is separated into colour ranges, connected regions are found, and their positions become the structure for lines, boxes, labels, and trails. Small changes in the source create a constantly shifting composition.

What’s inside

  • Colour thresholding and connected components
  • Tracked centres, bounds, and motion trails
  • Adjustable colour ranges and blob size
  • Still-image and video exports

Where it could go

A starting point for reactive visuals, live camera treatments, and graphic systems that follow movement without trying to reproduce the original image.

Over
laid.

Photographs, broken into stars. A different way to see what’s already there.

Mountain photographs transformed into contrasting fields of stars
Overlaid · image experiment

The idea

I use shapes to pull a photograph apart and see what comes through. The stars become both the image and the space around it.

Objects,
isolated.

Keeping detected regions of a scene and letting the rest fall away, with labelled boxes and graphic, floating fragments.

Object tracking · detection export

The idea

I wanted to see what a scene looks like when only the things a detector recognises remain. Everyday footage becomes a collection of fragments on black, with labels becoming part of the image.

How it works

Objects are detected in photos or video, filtered by class and confidence, then kept as rectangular regions against a plain background. Labels and colours become part of the composition.

What’s inside

  • Photo, folder, and video processing
  • Class and confidence filtering
  • Adjustable box padding and optional labels
  • Black-background exports and wildlife experiments

Where it could go

A starting point for data-inspired motion treatments, machine-vision aesthetics, and batch image studies with a consistent graphic language.

Audio
reactive.

A particle cloud shaped by the frequencies inside a song, built in TouchDesigner as sound becomes movement, density, and colour.

Audio reactive · particle cloud export

The idea

I used TouchDesigner to get the frequencies of a song and use them to manipulate a particle cloud. The sound is not just playing alongside the image; it becomes the force shaping it.

How it works

Audio analysis reads the song into frequency data. Math CHOPs remap and smooth those values, while Null CHOP references keep the network organised and send the changing numbers into the particle system.

What’s inside

  • Frequency analysis from the source audio
  • Math CHOP remapping and control ranges
  • Null CHOP references between the audio and visual network
  • Particle movement, scale, colour, and density driven by sound

Where it could go

A base for live music visuals, reactive installations, and performances where the image grows directly out of the sound.

Color
grading.

The same frame, a different feeling. A study in colour, contrast, and the mood between them.

The finished colour grade The original image before grading UngradedGraded
0:00 / 0:17 Drag to compare

The feeling

I like seeing how much an image can change without changing what’s in it. Colour and contrast let me take the same moment somewhere else.

Before & after

Move the divider across the frame to compare the original footage with my finished grade. Pause on a moment or let it play to see the treatment in motion.
